Inaugurated Jagannath Temple in Digha – The magnificent Jagannath Temple was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday afternoon on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya in Digha, East Medinipur district of West Bengal. The temple has been built on the model of the Puri Shri Jagannath Temple on an area of 20 acres. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee offered prayers to Lord Jagannath after the temple was inaugurated. That is, while Hindu temples mainly prohibit people of other religions, it is said that there are no such restrictions in the Digha Jagannath temple. Similarly, Rs 250 crore has been spent on the construction of this 65-foot-high magnificent temple. This magnificent structure is built in the traditional Kalinga architectural style and made of Rajasthani pink sandstone. More than 800 skilled craftsmen from Rajasthan have built this temple. Like the Puri Jagannath temple in Dighar temple, the Bhog Mandap, Nat Mandap, Jagmohan and the holy Garbhagriha have been very exquisitely crafted. The Mamata government invited 6,000 guests.
