‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ was the second film directed by Karan Johar after ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. It was the second-highest-grossing film of 2001. At the first place was director Anil Sharma’s Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel starrer ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. While ‘Gadar..’ earned Rs 76.88 crore, ‘Kabhi Khushi..’ collected Rs 55.65 crore. Abhishek Bachchan shot for a cameo in this film. However, later he asked director Karan Johar to remove this scene from the final copy.
