Govt Launches Operation Sindhu: ‘110 Students Evacuated’
India launches Operation Sindhu To Bring Back Indian Nationals from Iran: Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran in the Middle East. the Indian government has launched a rescue operation. Under this, 90 Kashmiri students are being brought back to New Delhi from Iran via Armenia. These students were studying at Urmia Medical University. A total of 110 Indian students have been brought back to India, out of which 90 are from Kashmir.
The Indian embassy in Tehran made special arrangements for this on Monday. After that they requested universities to let the Indian students go.
Operation Sindhu Begin:
The mission has been dubbed ‘Operation Sindhu’. The students arrived in Armenia’s capital Yerevan by land from northern Iran on June 17. They left Yerevan for New Delhi on a special flight on June 18. Reach India in the morning of June 19.
“India has launched Operation Sindhu to repatriate Indian citizens from Iran,” said Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs. He thanked the governments of Iran and Armenia for their cooperation in this process.
A control room has been set up in Leh to assist the families of Ladakhi students and residents stranded in Iran. JKSA thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for the timely evacuation.
There are over 4,000 Indian nationals in Iran, more than half of whom are students. Most Kashmiri students rely on Iran to enroll in medical and other professional courses. The Indian Embassy has advised its citizens living in Tehran to move to safer places in view of the deteriorating situation.
This evacuation operation demonstrates the rapid and coordinated steps taken by the Indian government to protect Indian citizens in the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
