Railway Fare Hikes From July 1: Check How Much You Will Pay: Train travel has become more expensive. This is because the Indian Railways has implemented revised fares from Tuesday, July 1, to regulate passenger fares and increase economic stability in the service.
Who is affected by the new railway fare?
In General Non-AC Class II, the fare has been increased by half a paisa per kilometer on a conditional basis. There has been no increase in fare up to 500 km. The fare has been increased by Rs 5 for distances between 501 and 1500 km, by Rs 10 for journeys between 1501 and 2500 km and by Rs 15 for distances between 2501 and 3000 km.
Similarly, there has been no change in the fare of suburban single passenger and season ticket. It has been increased by 0.5 paise per km in sleeper class, 0.5 paise per km in first class. In non-AC mail and express categories, it has been increased by 1 paise per km in second class, 1 paise per km in sleeper class, and 1 paise per km in first class.
Apart from this, the fare per km for AC class mail, express has been increased by 2 paise. There has been no change in ancillary charges. Similarly, reservation fee, superfast charge, other charges have remained unchanged. GST will be imposed as per applicable rules, according to the Railways.
