Jagannath Suna Besha : In the sacred town of Puri, amidst the fervor of the Rath Yatra festival, lies a moment of divine splendor known as the Jagannath Suna Besa. This awe-inspiring ritual occurs when Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, is adorned with magnificent golden attire, symbolizing opulence and grandeur.
The Significance of Suna Besa
Suna Besa, which translates to “gold attire,” is a rare and revered event in Hindu mythology. It is believed that during this ritual, the deities are transformed into their divine forms as they receive offerings and adoration from devotees. The use of gold ornaments, studded with precious gems, is considered a gesture of utmost devotion and honor to the gods.

Jagannath Suna Besha ritual
puri jagannath temple administration has informed that the Thakur will be adorned in Suna Besha between 5 pm and 6:30 pm. The administration has also decided that devotees will be able to see the Suna Besha of Mahaprabhu till 11 pm. After the Besha, the Bad Singha Besha and Ratra Pahud will be held.

Security arrangements have been tightened in Srikshetra for the Suna Besha, and a barricade has been set up from Market Chowk. After the devotees come to the barricade from Market Chowk and view the Besha, arrangements have been made for the three chariots to leave through the back road. Among all the attractive Beshas of Srijiu, the Suna Besha, i.e. the Badat Dhawan Besha, is one of the most attractive Beshas.

The great lord Balabhadra wears a kirti, a sari, a ghagada, a kadamba, earrings, a girdle, a girdle, a moon, a sevati, a bhaganakha, a bahada, a sarihal and a musala, a tilak, a trikhandika, and a jhobakanthi, etc. Devi Subhadra wears a kirti, an odiyani, an sari, a chandrasurya, two sevati, a ghagada, a kadamba, etc.
Similarly, Lord Jagannath will be seen wearing many gold ornaments like gold chakra, silver conch, girdle, earrings, moon, adkani, ghagadamalai, kadambamalai, tilaktrikhandika, sevatimalai, jhoba kanthi, tavija mali and bahada mali on a chariot and will appear before the devotees in a golden attire. Lord Jagannath will be seen wearing 138 types of gold ornaments. This enchanting attire is held once a year on a chariot and it is believed that by appearing in this attire, one attains infinite merit.
