Love Bait increases risk of stroke

Hickey, also known as love bite, is a deep red or purple mark on your skin that can be caused by sucking or biting the skin (intense suction) for 20 or 30 seconds. In simple words, the mark left after a hickey is due to blood clotting. Actually, when your partner sucks or bites your skin rapidly, small blood vessels below the surface break due to pressure. These broken blood vessels leave small spots of blood called petechiae which come to the surface and leave red, blue or purple marks. In medical terms, hickey can be given these names,
Ecchymosis
Erythema
Hematoma
Purpura
Petechiae
But these blood vessels break not only during a hickey but also when you hit something hard, they break and this causes pain or blue or red marks on the skin.

Love bites can cause three types of problems
As you know, hickeys are generally not considered serious, but in the recent past some complications have been reported, so it is important for neurologists to inform you about the problems we can face due to these hickeys or love bites.
‘Love bites can cause three types of problems. One is carotid sinus. Actually, there is a group of nerve cells on the side of the neck, so whenever someone does a love bite, these nerve cells get activated and the cells are connected to the heart, so they have a tendency to reduce the heart rate or blood pressure. This can cause dizziness, you can fall and any kind of complications can occur .
‘The second thing is that suppose there is already a clot in the vessels of the neck, then if someone applies more pressure on those vessels with a love bite, then there is a possibility of those clots shifting and moving towards the head. Now in such a situation, when these clots reach the brain, it can cause a stroke.’
‘Thirdly, if a kiss is forceful on the neck, there is a possibility of the delicate blood vessels of the neck getting ruptured and their lining getting ruptured can lead to blood clots and blood may come out. Therefore, it is important to be cautious about such things when someone is very sensitive.’
According to Healthline , hickeys should not cause much problem but if the hickey mark does not go away for a long time, causes more pain, hickey mark appear at many places on the body, a lump forms over the hickey, then you should contact a doctor because these symptoms can also be a sign of a medical condition like a blood-related disease or a blood clotting problem. Although the chances of this are not very high, some serious injuries have occurred after hickeys, including paralysis and stroke.
How long do hickeys last?
Like other injuries, hickeys can take anywhere from 3 days to 2-3 weeks to heal. The injury caused by a hickey is below the surface of your skin, so it takes time to heal. However, gradually the color of the hickey changes and it heals.
