India-Pakistan WCL Match Cancels After Harbhajan, Dhawan, Yusuf And Others Refuse To Play : The WCL has officially announced on social media that the high-voltage India-Pakistan World Championship of Legends match scheduled to be held in Birmingham, England, has been cancelled after Indian players, including Shikhar Dhawan, refused to be a part of it citing the Pahalgam terror attack in April.
India Legends team has pulled out of the match against Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends – WCL in protest against the Pahalgam terror attack. Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Yusuf, Dhawan have refused to play the match as a mark of protest against the Pahalgam attack. It is said to be a sensitive protest as many innocent lives were lost in the Pahalgam attack. There was excitement about this match between India and Pakistan in the WCL. But the current decision may affect the tournament. The question arises, how did the players make the decision overnight? Why didn’t they think of Pakistan while signing the contract?

Hence, respecting the public sentiments, the organisers have cancelled the match and also apologised for hurting the feelings of the citizens.
“Dear All, We at WCL have always cherished and loved cricket, and our only aim has been to give fans some good, happy moments. After hearing the news that the Pakistan hockey team will be coming to India this year, and seeing the recent India vs Pakistan volleyball match along with a few other fixtures between the two nations in different sports, we thought of continuing with the India vs Pakistan match at WCL – just to create some happy memories for people around the globe,” WCL organisers said in a statement.

PAHALGRAM ATTACK
“But maybe in the process, we ended up hurting the feelings of many and stirring emotions. More than that, we unintentionally caused discomfort to our Indian Cricket Legends, who have brought so much glory to the country, and we ended up affecting the brands who supported us purely out of love for the game.Hence, we have decided to call off the India vs Pakistan match. We sincerely apologise again for hurting the sentiments and hope people will understand that all we ever wanted was to bring a few happy moments to the fans,” the statement read.
