Tamil Nadu government will provide police protection to cinema halls screening Vijay’s ‘Kingdom’
Madras High Court Directs Police To Protect Theatres Screening of Kingdom: Vijay Deverakonda starrer Kingdom is facing huge opposition in Tamil Nadu. This is because the Sri Lankan Tamils have been shown as villains in the film. The main villain of the film is also named Murugan, which is another name for Lord Kartikeya. Due to this, there is a demand to cancel the screening of the film in the state. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the Tamil Nadu government has promised to give protection to those theaters where this film is being shown.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the protests against the film in the state have taken a violent turn. Because of this, the Madras High Court issued an order on August 7. According to this, if needed, Tamil Nadu Police will protect those cinemas where this film will be premiered. The judge said that this film has received a certificate from the Censor Board. Therefore, no third party can stop it from being shown. Still, if any person or organization threatens to do so, strict action will be taken against them.
The pro-Tamil group ‘Naam Tamizhar Kachchi’ (NTK) had protested against the representation of Tamil people in the film. It started with a peaceful protest, but soon it started taking a violent form. There were many protests against the film in Tamil Nadu. This affected the screening of the film at many places.

Seeing all this, the makers filed a petition in the Madras High Court. When the matter went to court, the government lawyer on behalf of the state government assured that appropriate action would be taken on it. Also, I will make sure that the screening of the film is not interrupted. In this petition, the makers requested the police to provide adequate security to the theatres so that the film can be shown peacefully without any interruption.
‘Kingdom’ is a spy action thriller. It is written and directed by ‘Jersey’ fame Gautam Tinnanuri. The film is produced by Nag Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banner of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinema. Apart from Vijay, actors like Satyadev, Manish Chaudhary, and Bhagyashree Borse have also worked in this movie.
