Air India will stop Delhi-Washington flights from September 1, the company gave this reason

Air India has announced the suspension of its flights from Delhi to Washington, DC. The company stated on Monday that it is suspending its flights from Delhi to Washington, D.C., starting September 1. Air India said in its statement that this decision has been taken due to several operational reasons. The decision to suspend Air India’s Delhi-Washington DC flights was taken soon after the airline started retrofitting its Boeing fleet. Let us tell you that the airline started retrofitting its 26 Boeing 787-8 aircraft last month.

Decision taken due to shortage of aircraft

In a press release, the airline said that the decision to discontinue its flights from Delhi to Washington, DC is primarily due to the reduction in its fleet, as it began retrofitting its 26 Boeing 787-8 aircraft last month. “This extensive retrofit program is required to improve the customer experience. As a result, several aircraft will not be able to operate until the end of 2026,” the airline said. Air India also cited the frequent closure of Pakistani airspace, which has lengthened the route of flights and increased operational challenges for its long-haul services.
