BJP picks Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as NDA Veep candidate
NDA Announced The Candidate For The Vice Presidential Election: NDA has announced its candidate for the Vice Presidential election. Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan has been made the candidate. We wanted to inform you that the position of Vice President became vacant after Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation. After which, the announcement was awaited from the NDA, and today this wait is over.
BJP President JP Nadda made the announcement
Announcing the candidate for the post of Vice President, BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda said, “We will also talk to the opposition. We should also get their support so that we can all together ensure an unopposed election for the post of Vice President. As we said earlier, we are in touch with him, and our senior leaders have contacted him earlier, and even now, we will be in touch with him, and all our NDA allies have supported us. CP Radhakrishnan is our NDA candidate for the post of Vice President.”

CP Radhakrishnan on being chosen as the Vice Presidential candidate. PM Modi congratulated him on his X handle and wrote that in his long public life, Thiru C.P. Radhakrishnan ji has made his distinctive identity with his dedication, humility, and intelligence. While holding various positions, he has always focused on community service and the empowerment of the underprivileged. He has done extensive work at the grassroots level in Tamil Nadu. I am happy that the NDA family has decided to nominate him as the Vice Presidential candidate of our alliance.
Who is NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan
CP Radhakrishnan’s full name is Chandrapuram Ponuswamy Radhakrishnan ( CP Radhakrishnan ). CP Radhakrishnan was born on 20 October 1957 in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. Currently serving as the Governor of Maharashtra. CP Radhakrishnan started his political career with RSS and Jan Sangh. He was elected as a Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore in 1998 and 1999. He was the state president of the BJP in Tamil Nadu from 2003 to 2006. CP Radhakrishnan was the Governor of Jharkhand from February 2023 to July 2024. Apart from this, he took additional charge of Telangana from March to July 2024. Also held the additional charge of Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from March to August 2024. He has served as the Governor of Maharashtra since 31 July 2024.
Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned on 21 July 2025.
