Government’s Big Announcement Before Diwali . he central government may soon announce a hike in dearness allowance (DA) for employees and pensioners before Diwali. This time Diwali falls on October 21. On this occasion, the government may give Diwali gifts to government employees and pensioners by adding arrears to their September salary.

It should also be noted that the public has been complaining about the rapidly increasing prices in the country. The prices of everything from food to transport, health to education have been increasing, and people are scared. The opposition parties have been questioning the government for many years and have been holding road protests from Parliament. But the government has not taken any steps to address the rising prices. In this context, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who is said to be the parent organization of the BJP, made an important statement in a meeting a few days ago. He said that health and education have become so expensive in the country that it has become a big concern for the common man. In the meantime, Prime Minister Modi announced that the Goods and Services Tax or GST will be reformed on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day.

Along with this, if the Modi government brings reforms in the GST slabs from Diwali, then the common man will get sufficient tax relief and small and medium entrepreneurs will also benefit. Meanwhile, after the Prime Minister’s remarks, discussions have started on GST. It is expected that the prices of various goods will come down if the GST reforms are implemented.
According to a report, DA is likely to increase by 3% to 4%. If the government approves a 3%-4% increase, then DA could reach 58%-59%. Currently DA is 55%. If DA increases by 3%, then the monthly income of an entry-level employee with a basic salary of Rs 18,000 will increase by about Rs 540. Similarly, pensioners with a basic pension of Rs 9,000 will get a benefit of Rs 270. However, the extent of DA increase will depend entirely on the government. The cabinet is likely to take a final decision in this regard in September-October.

You may note that the government revises DA twice a year. The first time in January and the second time in July. The new rate will be effective from July 1. However, it is usually announced in September or October. Employees are getting arrears for July, August and September. Also, government employees will hope that the government will announce the DA hike in September before the festive season.
