Since then, the batsman has been playing domestic cricket and scored 402 runs in seven matches for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy last season. Speaking to the media, Pujara said that he had not thought about it before and took this decision recently. Pujara said that it is a proud moment for him to end his career and playing for India was a childhood dream for him.

We’re planning for a week

Pujara said, I did not think much about it earlier. For about a week, I felt that this was the right time. So today, when I took this decision, it was a proud moment for me and my entire family. On this day, I want to thank all my teammates, my coaches, and all the support staff with whom I worked.

Young players will get a chance

Pujara further said, This was my personal decision and I decided that this is the right time, especially when young players should get opportunities in domestic cricket. Earlier, I thought that maybe I would play in this Ranji season, but then I thought that if young players get a chance, they will be ready quickly. I do not want to say much about the last few years, when I was not a part of the Indian team.
