Boney Kapoor Moves Madras HC Over Sridevi’s Chennai Property: Claims 3 People ‘Unlawfully’ Claiming Sridevi’s Property
Boney Kapoor Moves Madras HC Over Sridevi’s Chennai Property: Filmmaker Boney Kapoor has filed a petition in the Madras High Court against three people who allegedly claim ownership of Sridevi’s Chennai farmhouse. This disputed property, located on Chennai’s East Coast Road (ECR), was reportedly purchased by Sridevi on 19 April 1988 from M.C. Sambanda Mudaliar, who had three sons and two daughters.
A woman claims Sridevi’s property
Boney Kapoor told the court that the family members had reached a mutual agreement regarding property division on February 14, 1960. Sridevi had purchased the property on the basis of this agreement.
Now, a woman and her children have claimed that they also have a share in the property, as she claims to be the second wife of one of the three sons of Mr. Mudaliar.
Boney Kapoor made this demand
Boney Kapoor also said in his petition that the woman’s claim is illegal as her marriage (February 5, 1975) cannot be considered a legal marriage, since the first wife died on June 24, 1999. Mr. Kapoor also questioned the jurisdiction of the Tambaram Taluka Tehsildar, who issued legal succession certificates to the three persons. He urged the court to cancel the certificate and stop any further action. Following Boney’s petition, Justice N. Anand Venkatesh has directed the Tambaram Tehsildar to understand the matter and give a decision on it within four weeks.
Boney Kapoor and Sridevi got married on 2 June 1996 in Shirdi. This was Boney Kapoor’s second marriage; before this, he was married to Mona Shourie Kapoor, with whom he has two children, Arjun and Anshula. Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s love story started during the shooting of ‘Mr. India’. Before marriage, there was a lot of controversy about Sridevi, and she was even called a home breaker because she was marrying a married man.
