New Vice President CP Radhakrishnan to take oath today, NDA alliance candidate emerges victorious

C.P. Radhakrishnan To Take Oath As The New Vice-President On September 12: CP Radhakrishnan, the newly elected Vice President of India, will be sworn in on Friday at a ceremony scheduled for 10 AM at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office. Radhakrishnan secured victory in the Vice Presidential election held on Tuesday, defeating joint opposition candidate B Sudarshan Reddy. The election was necessitated following the sudden resignation of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on July 21. As the NDA’s candidate, Radhakrishnan received 452 out of 767 votes cast by Members of Parliament, while Reddy secured 300 votes, marking a voter turnout of 98.2 percent.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Radhakrishnan on his win and expressed confidence in his ability to uphold constitutional values and contribute meaningfully to parliamentary proceedings. Following his election, Radhakrishnan resigned as the Governor of Maharashtra. In the interim, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat has been assigned additional charge of Maharashtra, as announced by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Elected as the 15th Vice President of India
NDA candidate Radhakrishnan was elected as the 15th Vice President of India on Tuesday. Announcing the result, Rajya Sabha Secretary General and Returning Officer PC Modi said that out of 781 MPs, 767 cast their votes, registering a voter turnout of 98.2 per cent.
