Karki, a former Chief Justice of Nepal, was appointed after days of unrest triggered by a controversial social media ban. Her appointment followed high-level talks involving the President, military officials, and youth protest leaders. Speaking at a rally in Manipur, PM Modi praised her leadership, calling it a “shining example of women’s empowerment” and expressing confidence in her ability to guide Nepal toward peace and prosperity.
