EPFO Launches ‘Passbook Lite’ to Simplify PF Balance Checks for 80 Million Employees
EPFO Launches ‘Passbook Lite’ To View Complete Account Details In One Click: In a major move to ease access to Provident Fund (PF) details, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a new feature called ‘Passbook Lite’. This lightweight version of the PF Passbook portal enables members to view their account balance, contributions, and withdrawals without the need to go through complex login procedures. With just a few clicks, employees can now get real-time updates directly from the EPFO member portal using their UAN and OTP verification.
According to a report by Money Control Hindi, this initiative was launched to tackle previous issues like login errors, server problems, and long wait times. The Passbook Lite feature ensures faster access, improving user experience, especially for those accessing the portal from low-bandwidth areas. Employees no longer need to visit the separate Passbook portal, making the process significantly quicker and more efficient.
In addition to simplified balance checks, EPFO has now made PF transfer certificates (Annexures) available for download in PDF format on the member portal. This will speed up the PF transfer process during job changes and enhance transparency. With over 80 million EPFO members expected to benefit, this update is a big step toward a more accountable and user-friendly digital PF management system.
