The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates for the Class 10th and 12th board examinations to be held in 2026. The examinations are scheduled to be held between February 17 and July 15, 2026. with morning sessions from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm (and until 12:30 pm for skill-based subjects like painting and automotive).
In 2026, around 4.5 million candidates from 26 countries across India and abroad are expected to appear for the 204 subjects of Class 10 and 12 exams. Along with the conduct of the exams, several other activities like practical, evaluation and post-results processes will be carried out to ensure timely declaration of results.
To facilitate effective planning and accountability by all stakeholders, CBSE has decided to release provisional date sheets for the following examinations based on the registration data of classes IX and XI for the year 2025.
The evaluation of answer sheets will begin approximately 10 days after the examination for each subject and is expected to be completed within 12 days. For example, if the Class 12 Physics exam is held on February 20, 2026, the evaluation will begin on March 3 and end on March 15.

KEY CHANGES IN CBSE BOARD EXAMS 2026
Two-board exams for Class 10: Students failing or missing subjects in the first exam can appear for the second session. Improvement attempts are also allowed.
Class 10 and 12 as full programmes: Completing Class 9 and 10 will be mandatory to sit for Class 10 board exams, and completing Class 11 will be necessary for Class 12 exams.
Internal assessment compulsory: Any student missing an internal assessment in any class of the programme will not be eligible for result declaration.
Attendance rule: A minimum of 75% attendance is required to sit for the exams. Special provision for athletes: Students engaged in sports and unable to attend the first exam may appear in the second session.
Result availability: Results of the first board exam will be uploaded on DigiLocker, which can also be used by Class 10 students for admission into Class 11.
Faster evaluation: Answer sheets will be evaluated within 10–12 days of subject exams.
CBSE 2026 BOARD EXAM ADMIT CARDS
Admit cards are expected to be released about two weeks before the exams, following the trend of previous years. The second board exam for Class 10 will be conducted from May 15 to May 30, 2026. Compartment exams will be held on June 1, 2026, in the morning session (10:30 am to 1:30 pm).
