The Indian Air Force is celebrating its 93rd Foundation Day today with ceremonial events and tributes to its air warriors. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their greetings on social media platform X, lauding the bravery, discipline, and commitment of the Indian Air Force.
President Murmu wrote, “Heartiest greetings to all air warriors, veterans and their families on Air Force Day.” Prime Minister Modi said, “The Indian Air Force is a symbol of valor, discipline and precision… Every Indian is proud of their commitment, professionalism and indomitable courage.”

The top military leadership — Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi — paid tribute by laying wreaths at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. They later attended the Air Force Day parade at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad.
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh inspected the parade and received a ceremonial salute from IAF personnel. This year’s event is unique, as it marks the first time the Air Force Day celebrations are being held in two parts.
While Hindon hosted the traditional parade and address, the aerial display — typically the highlight of the celebration — will be held on November 9 in Guwahati, Assam. This change was made due to increasing air traffic in Delhi NCR and associated safety concerns like bird strikes. Guwahati was selected for the flypast, but due to current weather conditions, the display was postponed to November 9.
The static display at Hindon featured a MiG-21, recently retired after six decades of service, and modern fighter aircraft like Rafale and Sukhoi-30, which have played significant roles in past military operations.
The Indian Air Force, established in 1932, continues to be a pillar of India’s defense with its relentless commitment to securing the nation’s airspace and assisting during natural disasters.
