Team India’s head coach is celebrating his 43rd birthday on October 14, 2025. And on the same day, India defeated the West Indies in the Delhi Test, winning the two-match series 2-0. This victory is no less than a major birthday achievement for Gambhir as head coach.

Now the question is how did India script a clean sweep of the series by winning the Delhi Test? Batting first, India declared their first innings at 518 for 5. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 175 and Shubman Gill’s unbeaten century were the key factors in India’s first innings.
In reply, when the West Indies came out to bat, India bundled them out for 248 in their first innings and forced them to follow on. India was aiming for an innings victory in Delhi, just like in Ahmedabad. However, the West Indies batsmen performed brilliantly in the second innings, scoring 390 runs, setting India a target of 121 runs. John Campbell and Shai Hope scored centuries for the West Indies in the second innings.
Kuldeep Yadav was the most successful bowler for India, taking five wickets in the first innings and eight overall. Jadeja and Bumrah took four each, while Siraj took three wickets in the match.
India now faced a target of 121 runs, which they chased down by 7 wickets. KL Rahul remained unbeaten in the chase, scoring 58 runs off 108 balls.
Won the first Test series after 378 days
With a clean sweep against the West Indies, India has won its first Test series under Shubman Gill’s captaincy. This is India’s first Test series win in 378 days. India’s last series win came against Bangladesh on October 1st of last year.
