The BCCI on Saturday provided a third update on iyer’s statement, confirming that the right-hand batter is ‘stable’ and has been discharged from the hospital in Sydney.
“Shreyas Iyer is now stable and recovering well. The BCCI Medical Team, along with specialists in Sydney and India, are pleased with his recovery, and he has been discharged from the hospital today,” the BCCI statement. Iyer suffered a blunt abdominal injury while fielding during the third ODI against Australia on October 25, 2025, which led to a spleen laceration and internal bleeding. The injury was quickly diagnosed, and the bleeding was controlled through a minor procedure. He has since received appropriate medical treatment and is recovering well.
Shreyas, according to the BCCI, will remain in Sydney for follow-up consultations and will return to India once he is medically cleared to travel. Shreyas Iyer sustained a spleen laceration while taking a diving catch to dismiss Alex Carey during the third ODI in Sydney. Initially suspected to be a rib injury, he was moved to the ICU for treatment. His condition has since stabilised, and he will return to India once cleared to travel.
