The Indian women’s cricket team made history by winning the 2025 ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, the South African team’s dream of winning the title was shattered.

Following the Indian team’s victory, prizes are pouring in. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a major announcement for the players and team support staff. The BCCI will provide the Indian team with ₹51 crore in prize money. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed this. This is the first time the Indian women’s team will receive such a large prize money.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Devjit Saikia said, “Kapil Dev gave Indian cricket new energy and inspiration by leading India to the World Cup in 1983. Now, Harmanpreet Kaur and her team have rekindled that same enthusiasm and excitement. They not only won the trophy, but also won the hearts of the entire nation.”
