A major accident was narrowly averted during the historic Cuttack Bali Yatra on Wednesday night when a giant swing malfunctioned, leaving 8 people, including several children, trapped in mid-air. The incident occurred after the motor of the amusement ride suddenly broke down, causing the swing to stop at a height of nearly 70 feet. Panic spread across the fairground as families watched their loved ones stranded high above the ground.

The fire department and local administration swiftly launched a rescue operation after receiving information about the mishap. A Bronto skylift was brought to the site to assist in bringing the trapped visitors down safely. Rescue teams worked tirelessly for over two hours, ensuring everyone was rescued without any injuries. The operation continued till midnight under the supervision of senior officials.

Eyewitnesses described the swing, designed like a giant hammer, suddenly coming to a halt while in motion. The operator immediately applied the emergency brakes to prevent further damage or imbalance. Eight people were trapped on each side of the structure, holding on tightly as the machine came to an abrupt stop.
