President Murmu Reaches Odisha Today; Set to Deliver First-Ever Presidential Address in State Assembly
President Droupadi Murmu Begins Two-Day Odisha Visit; To Address State Assembly for First Time in History: President Droupadi Murmu arrives in Odisha today on a two-day visit, marking a historic moment as she becomes the first President of India to address the Odisha Legislative Assembly. The state administration and Assembly have made extensive preparations for the high-profile visit, with special invitations issued to all MLAs, former legislators, senior officials, and distinguished personalities to witness the landmark address.
The President will land in Bhubaneswar at 2 PM aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft. At 4 PM, she will inaugurate the new Kalinga Guest House inside the Raj Bhavan premises. She is scheduled to reach the Assembly at 4:20 PM and deliver her address from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
This visit carries emotional significance for President Murmu. During her tenure as Odisha’s Minister for Commerce, Transport, Fisheries, and Animal Husbandry Development from 2000 to 2004, she frequently stayed in Room No. 11 of the Assembly. The room has been newly renovated to allow her to revisit memories from her early political career.
Following the Assembly proceedings, the President will return to Raj Bhavan to attend a special dinner hosted by the Governor. She is scheduled to depart for Lucknow at 9:15 AM on the 28th.
To ensure security and smooth conduct of the visit, authorities have deployed 200 officers along with 25 platoons of police force across key locations.
President Murmu’s visit is expected to be a moment of pride for Odisha and a historic milestone for the state legislature.
