Rajasthan High Court’s big decision. A strict decision has been made regarding the opening of liquor shops. From now on, liquor shops will not open on the National Highway. The High Court has taken this decision considering the increasing number of accidents due to easy availability of liquor on the National Highway. The court has clearly ordered that all liquor shops within a distance of 500 meters of the state and the National Highway should be removed immediately.
After this decision of the High Court, about 1102 liquor shops in the state are going to be directly affected. The court has ordered the state government and the excise department to shift all the liquor shops within two months. The decision was announced during the hearing of a case raised regarding road safety and public interest.
The court said that due to the presence of liquor shops on the national highway, drivers are easily getting liquor. As a result, they are driving in an intoxicated state. Due to which the chances of accidents increase. The court has made it clear that there can be no greater interest than road safety.
The bench of Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati said that if the government and the administration do not take action in time. Then the lives of the common people will be in danger. Which will not be tolerated. All liquor shops should be shifted from the highway within two months. Liquor shops should be shifted at a minimum distance of 500 meters from the state and national highways. All safety rules should be followed during the shift. The Excise Department will have to give the address and progress of every liquor shop to the court. There will be a complete ban on liquor advertisements, hoardings and signboards visible from the highway. If found, strict action will be taken.
