Rayagada villager make their own bridge

Despite repeated demands, the administration did not listen. The residents of Shikarpai Panchayat, Kalyansinghpur Block, Rayagada District, lost trust in the administration. They tried to solve their own problems. They built a temporary bridge over the Nagabali River flowing near the village. After the bridge was built with everyone’s hard work, the villagers were able to go to the Panchayat office, market, and hospital with ease.

The villages of Talasajja and Mukhtasajja in Shikarpai Panchayat are 50 kilometers away from the Rayagada district headquarters. About 64 families live in these two villages. Since there is no bridge over the Nagabali river flowing through the village, it was difficult for the sick and pregnant women to go to the hospital. Children were struggling to go to school and college. It was difficult to go to the Panchayat office, market and Rayagada. While the Panchayat office was 3 kilometers away, people had to travel an additional 10 kilometers through Majhiguda.
