Hindu Scriptures on Where One Should Not Eat Food: In Hindu religion, food is called Brahma. Some rules for eating food have been mentioned in texts like Garuda Purana, Manusmriti, Parashar Samhita, Dharmasindhu, Nirnayasindhu and Padma Purana. It is clearly mentioned in these texts that there are some people, from whose house you should not eat food, because eating the food of these people destroys your virtues and is a sin. By eating their food, the mind, intellect and soul all three get polluted. Let us know at whose house eating food is considered prohibited.

“चांडालान्नं न भुंजीत तथा च श्वपचस्य च”

A person who behaves inappropriately or takes someone’s life for personal gain, their touch and food are considered impure. The Garuda Purana states that eating the food of such a Chandala leads to suffering in hell and a lower birth in the next life. The Parashara Samhita also states that such food defiles both the body and the soul.

corrupt person:

If a person is corrupt, commits cow slaughter or animal slaughter, drinks alcohol, sells Vedas, or insults gods or Brahmins, eating food from their home degrades the eater and requires severe penance such as observing the Chandrayan fast or donating a cow. According to the Parashara Samhita, eating the food of a sinner incurs sin for seven lifetimes.

‘परदाररतो यश्च तथा चैवोपपातकी।

तयोर्न भोजनं कार्यं य इच्छेत् आत्मनो हितम्॥’

According to the Dharmasindhu and Nirnayasindhu, one should not eat at the house of any man or woman who has physical relations with anyone other than their husband or wife, meaning they are immoral. The Padma Purana states that the food of an adulterer is like poison, filling the mind with lust and destroying the intellect. Such food destroys both spiritual practice and virtue.

According to Manusmriti (Chapter 4, Verse 253) and Yagyavalkya Smriti, no one should eat the food of a person who commits unrighteous acts, meaning they cause suffering to others. According to the Garuda Purana, such food diminishes a person’s radiance and shortens their lifespan.

Angry Person:

an angry, cynical, and ungrateful person. The angry slanderer is arrogant and ungrateful.

The Garuda Purana (Chapter 117) and the Padma Purana clearly state that the food of a person who is constantly angry, criticizes others, shows off, or forgets to thank others is like poison. Eating at such a person’s home transforms one’s mind into a similar one, and one’s virtues are destroyed.

According to the Garuda Purana, if you accidentally ate at these people’s homes, you should fast for three days and donate to a cow. According to the Parashara Samhita, feeding 12 Brahmins and donating gold can also be considered.
