Goa Nightclub Tragedy: Luthra Brothers’ Accomplice Ajay Gupta Arrested in Delhi

Goa Fire Case: Luthra Brothers’ Accomplice Ajay Gupta Arrested in Delhi: Goa Police have detained another major suspect, Ajay Gupta, in the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub fire case that claimed the lives of 25 people. Gupta, a resident of New Delhi, had already been under surveillance after a lookout circular was issued to prevent him from fleeing the state or the country.

When a police team visited his residence earlier, Gupta was found missing, prompting authorities to issue an arrest warrant against him. He has now been taken into custody in Delhi and transported to Goa for further investigation.

What Is the Case About?

The deadly incident took place on the night of December 6–7 at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa. A massive fire broke out, trapping dozens of people and resulting in the death of 25 individuals. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reached the site shortly after the blaze was brought under control.

Initial speculation pointed to a cylinder blast as the source of the fire. However, subsequent forensic investigation revealed that firecrackers illegally stored on the premises were responsible for the explosion and rapid spread of the flames.

The tragedy has sparked national outrage and raised serious questions about safety compliance in nightclubs, prompting authorities to take a tougher stance on illegal storage, overcrowding, and fire-safety violations in entertainment establishments across India.

Meanwhile, pressure is mounting on the Luthra brothers—Delhi-based businessmen who operate several high-end clubs and restaurants in Goa. The duo fled to Bangkok shortly after the fire, evading arrest.

Goa Police, in coordination with central agencies, are preparing to request an Interpol Blue Corner Notice to track their movements and confirm their location. This could then escalate to a Red Corner Notice, setting the stage for an international manhunt and extradition proceedings.

The case has revived discussions about high-profile criminals and fraudsters fleeing India and living abroad for years. Several individuals remain on Interpol’s list while continuing life in foreign countries, raising concerns about loopholes in enforcement and extradition processes.
