Auto companies strive to improve their vehicles, responding to customer needs. Maruti Suzuki has done the same with its best-selling hatchback this time. The company has incorporated a feature that is extremely beneficial for the elderly (grandparents) and those with disabilities. This new feature will make it easier for the elderly and those with disabilities to ride in the car.
An accessibility-focused variant of the WagonR has been launched, offering the option of a swivel seat. The company’s goal behind including this seat is to make life easier for those who struggle to get into a vehicle. It’s worth noting that this type of seat option is currently not available from any other automaker.
Wagonr Swivel Seat: How long will it take to install the seat?
The company has designed this seat so that it can be slid towards the door, making it easier for elderly or disabled passengers to board the vehicle. According to information on the company’s official website, it’s worth noting that this new seat doesn’t replace the original factory-fitted seat and can be installed without disturbing the mechanical system or structure. Fitting this seat takes approximately one hour.
Will this new variant be available in all states?
The company has launched this variant as a pilot project in 11 cities through over 200 area dealerships. The company says that based on customer feedback, it will develop further strategies and plans to make the vehicle available in other states and cities. This seat can be easily installed when purchasing a new WagonR or on vehicles sold after 2019.
How many years warranty?
The company has partnered with Bengaluru-based startup True Assist Technology Pvt. Ltd. to develop this special seat. TRUEAssist will provide this special seat for the WagonR, and the installation will also be handled by the startup. This seat also comes with a 3-year manufacturing defect warranty.
Tata was also the first to solve this problem
Just as Maruti Suzuki introduced this special seat to make life easier for the elderly and disabled, Tata Motors was the first company to address the problem of trunk space for CNG drivers. The company designed its vehicles in such a way that customers now receive a full trunk along with CNG. Other companies are emulating Tata’s initiative, and Hyundai now offers a full trunk option with CNG.
