The final match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 was played on Thursday. In this match held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Jharkhand defeated Haryana by 69 runs. In this match, Jharkhand had given a target of 263 runs to Haryana to win, but the Haryana team was all out for 193 runs in 18.3 overs.
Jharkhand won the tournament for the first time. On the other hand, Haryana was also playing the final for the first time, but their dream of becoming champions was shattered. The hero of Jharkhand’s victory was captain Ishan Kishan , who has scored 517 runs in this season, the highest since Syed Mushtaq Ali. Ishan also scored a century in the final.
This was the 18th edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Tamil Nadu has won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the most number of times, three times. The team also won the first edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2006–07. Karnataka, Gujarat, Baroda and Mumbai have won the title twice each. Similarly, Uttar Pradesh, East Zone, Maharashtra, Bengal, Delhi, Punjab and Jharkhand have won the trophy once each.
Chasing the target, Haryana batsmen were forced to run at a fast pace from the start. Due to this pressure, Haryana lost three wickets in the powerplay itself. After this, Haryana could not get back into the match. Only Yashvardhan Dalal (53 runs), Samanta Jakhar (38 runs) and Nishant Sindhu (31 runs) were able to stay at the crease for some time. For Jharkhand, fast bowlers Sushant Mishra and Bal Krishna took three wickets each. Vikas Singh and Anukul Roy also got success with two wickets each.
