3 FIRs Registered Against Stand-Up Comedian Kunal Kamra
3 Cases Have Been Registered Against Stand-Up Comedian Kunal Kamra: Troubles seem to be increasing for stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who made objectionable comments against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Three cases have been filed separately against Kunal Kamra at Khar Police Station. Mumbai Police says this complaint against Kunal Kamra has been given by the Jalgaon city mayor. A hotelier and a Nashik businessman have given two other complaints.

Last week, at a show in Mumbai, comedian Kamra had mocked Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on the tune of the song Dil to Pagal Hai and branded him a traitor. Following this, Shiv Sainiks vandalized a studio in Mumbai. Not only this, the comedian has been summoned twice by the Khar police for interrogation in this context, but he has not yet appeared for investigation.
Earlier, Madras High Court on Friday released Kunal Kamra on interim anticipatory bail in respect of a number of FIRs that were lodged against him. The court ordered interim anticipatory bail till April 7 with stipulations.
Kamra is a comedian and he mocked Eknath Shinde calling him a “traitor” but not naming him. It did not appeal to most of the political leaders. They criticized it and demanded Kamra be punished. But Kunal Kamra did not apologise. Shiv Sainiks vandalised the premise. The outrage further grew as Yuva Sena, one of Shinde’s youth factions in Shiv Sena, vandalised the Habitat comedy club where Kamra made his controversial remarks. A strong supporter of freedom of expression, Kunal Kamra condemned the mainstream media and stated that it is the “ruling party’s miscommunication arm” and referred to reporters as “vultures” that waste time on minor issues. He opined that the direction the media is headed is detrimental for the country and citizens. Also Read
