Actor Vijay Announces Cancellation Of All His Programs After Stampede Kills 41 People: A tragic stampede in Karur, Tamil Nadu, during a political rally attended by actor-turned-politician Vijay, claimed the lives of 41 people, triggering widespread public outrage and intense political debate. The incident occurred during a public meeting organized by Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), where overwhelming crowd pressure led to a deadly crush.
According to police, the venue had a capacity of around 10,000 people, but over 30,000 had gathered, many waiting since noon. The crowd surged forward upon Vijay’s late arrival at 7 PM, resulting in chaos, jostling, and eventually, a stampede.
In response, TVK announced a two-week suspension of all public meetings. The party posted on Instagram:
“In this situation, where we are saddened and distressed by the passing of our loved ones, our party president’s public meeting program for the next two weeks is being temporarily postponed.”

Vijay released a video message expressing his deep sorrow:
“I have never experienced such a painful situation in my life. I did not visit Karur immediately, as my presence could have caused more disruption. I will soon meet the families of the victims and the injured.”
He also announced a relief amount of ₹20 lakh for each bereaved family.
In a startling development, Vijay has accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of political vendetta, alleging that the tragedy may be part of a broader plan.
“The truth behind this horrifying incident will soon come to light,” Vijay stated.
Meanwhile, police reports suggest serious violations of safety protocols and lack of crowd control measures, contributing to the disaster.
The incident has not only put a pause on TVK’s political momentum but also opened up serious questions about accountability, crowd management, and the politicization of tragedy. Investigations are underway.
