AIIMS Bhubaneswar Inaugurates Liver Transplantation Clinic In a major step towards establishing liver transplant services, a dedicated liver transplant clinic has been inaugurated at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. It has created a unique opportunity in the field of advanced liver care. The clinic was inaugurated by Dr. Sulaytesh Kumar, Chairman, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director, and Dr. Dilip Kumar Parida, Medical Superintendent. The specialist clinic will be instrumental in meeting the various pre-operative needs of patients requiring liver transplantation, ensuring a structured and multidisciplinary approach to liver care.

As AIIMS Bhubaneswar gears up to start liver transplant services, the need for a dedicated clinic to assess and enroll end-stage liver disease patients is of utmost importance. The liver transplant clinic will be jointly managed by the departments of surgical gastroenterology, gastroenterology, pediatric surgery, and pediatrics. A dedicated liver transplant coordinator and nutritionist will also be associated with the clinic, ensuring holistic care for patients and their families. The clinic will serve patients from Odisha and neighboring states, providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment. Its primary functions will include evaluation of patients for liver transplantation, listing patients for transplantation, pre-surgical preparation for both donors and recipients, nutritional and transplant counseling, and providing information about the risks and benefits of liver transplantation.

This self-clinic will function every Tuesday from 2:30 to 4:30 pm in room number 222 of the Gastro OPD Complex.
