Amarnath Yatra Begins Amid Tight Security: Police Issues Advisory For Pilgrims

Amarnath Yatra Begins Amid Tight Security: The first batch of pilgrims for the Amarnath Yatra left Jammu on Wednesday (3 June) amid tight security. Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha flagged off the batch from Bhagwati Nagar base camp. During this, the devotees kept chanting ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Bam Bam Bhole’. About 600 additional companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed for the security of the pilgrims. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has issued an advisory for the pilgrims.

The police have shared a post on social media, which says, ‘All pilgrims undertaking Amarnath Yatra 2025 are advised to travel only in the scheduled convoys leaving from Bhagwati Nagar, Batal, and Nunwan base camps. Along with this, the police have also said that the pilgrims arriving much before the scheduled date are advised to arrive reasonably before the day of the yatra.

The trip will conclude on August 9.

The 38-day-long yatra will take place from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. The yatra will conclude on Rakshabandhan on 9 August next month. Every year, lakhs of devotees from across the country visit Baba Amarnath. So far, more than 3,31,000 devotees have registered for this year’s yatra. For instant registration, centres have been opened in Saraswati Dham, Vaishnavi Dham, Panchayat Bhawan, and Mahajan Sabha in Jammu. These centres are registering 2 thousand devotees every day.

Tight security arrangements for the visit Amarnath

Given the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, tight security arrangements have been made this time. About 600 additional companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed for security, which is the biggest deployment so far for Yatra security. Regarding the preparations for the Yatra, officials said that the pilgrims will be transported to Pahalgam and Baltal base camps amid traffic restrictions, heavy security arrangements, and tight security arrangements on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. During this period, traffic restrictions will be imposed on different routes from July 2 to August 9.
