Australia Team vs India One day match
Australian Team Announced For ODI And T20 Series Against India : Cricket Australia has announced its squads for the upcoming home ODI and T20 series against India. The series begins on October 19th. Fast bowler Mitchell Starc and opener Matthew Short have returned to the ODI squad. Starc announced his retirement from T20 International cricket last month, but will now take the field in the 50-over format against a strong Indian team. India also recently announced its ODI and T20 squads. Veteran players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are returning to the ODI squad, while Shubman Gill will now lead India’s ODI team.
Marsh to captain in Cummins’ absence
Australia’s regular captain, Pat Cummins, is out of the series due to injury. As such, T20 captain Mitchell Marsh will lead the team in both ODI and T20 formats. Marsh already has captaincy experience, and this will be a great opportunity for him to prove himself against a challenging team like India.
The ODI team returns with four changes.
Four changes have been made to the team compared to the last ODI series against South Africa (which Australia lost 2-1). Mitchell Starc, Matthew Short, Matthew Renshaw and Mitchell Owen have been included in the team. Meanwhile, Aaron Hardie, Matthew Kuhnemann and Marnus Labuschagne have been dropped from the team. Labuschagne will now play four-day cricket for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield to prepare for the Ashes Test series against England later in the year.
Important preparations ahead of the T20I series
The T20I series against India will begin on October 29th. Cricket Australia has announced a 14-member squad for the first two matches. This marks the return of Nathan Ellis and Josh Inglis, who did not play in the recent T20I series against South Africa.
This series is considered crucial in preparation for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Selection committee chief George Bailey hinted that there could be some changes to the T20I squad going forward to allow players time to prepare for domestic cricket and the Test series.
George Bailey
said, “We have selected the squad for the ODI series and the first two T20 matches. At the end of the series, some players may be rested to return to domestic cricket and prepare for the Test season.” He said, “Most of the players will remain with the team to prepare for the T20 World Cup, but we are trying to maintain a balance so that some players also get adequate preparation time for Test cricket.”
Australia’s ODI squad: Mitchell Marsh (captain), Xavier Bartlett, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Owen, Matthew Renshaw, Matthew Short, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa.
