What is the real name of Premananda ji?
Our most beloved Sanyasi Radhavallabhi Saint, Aniruddha Kumar Pandey (real name of Premanand Ji Maharaj), Maharaj Ji was born in a poor Brahmin family. His whole family has been devoted to God. Premanand Maharaj Ji was born in 1972 in Sarsaul Block, Aakhri Village, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
How Premanand ji got attracted towards devotion
Premanand Ji Maharaj’s grandfather was also a sanyasi. His house had a very pious and God-devoted atmosphere. Premanand Maharaj Ji’s father, Shri Shambhu Pandey, also accepted sanyas in later years. His revered mother, Shri Rama Devi Dubey, was also very religious. She used to respect all the saints very much. Both his parents used to regularly serve saints in temples and other religious places. Babaji also has an elder brother. The pious atmosphere in the house further increased the spiritual light in Premanand Ji’s mind. Premanand Ji Maharaj started doing puja paath at a very young age. In his childhood, in the fifth class itself, he started reading the Bhagavad Gita. At a very young age, Maharaj Ji started thinking about every aspect of life. It is said that once a question came to Maharaj Ji’s mind: Does the love of parents last forever? He was constantly searching for spirituality.

Premanand ji left home at the age of 13:
Eventually, Premanand ji Maharaj decided to live a spiritual life and search for the path to God in the ninth grade itself. He was ready to separate from his family for this noble cause. Maharajji was only 13 years old when he made this decision. He left his house at three in the morning without telling anyone. After leaving home at a young age, he took the initiation of a Naishthik Brahmachari. His new name as a saint was Shri Anand Swaroop Brahmachari, and after this, he took sanyasa for life. After embracing the epic, he got another new name, which is Swami Anandashram.

Premanand Ji Maharaj has mentioned many times in his discourses that he was a devotee of Lord Shiva in his early life. He followed the teachings of Lord Shiva. He never accepted an ashram or hierarchical life. Premanand Ji Maharaj spent most of his life alone and in the company of other divine saints. As a saint, Baba Ji never bothered about weather, food, or clothing, and he always stayed around the ghats of Haridwar and Varanasi. He always bathed in the Ganges, even in the bitter cold. There is no doubt that Maharaj Ji had the blessings of Lord Shiva, who was the embodiment of wisdom and compassion.
How Premanand Ji Maharaj reached Vrindavan:
But Maharaj Ji never lost hope of his objective, and subsequently, influenced by a saint, he attended the Raasleela conducted by Swami Shri Shriram Sharma. He remained present at the Raasleela for a whole month. Little did Maharaj realize by then that Vrindavan would steal his heart forever, and it would become his permanent address. He boarded a train to Mathura and reached Mathura with other saints. When Maharaj Ji reached Vrindavan, he did not know anyone and was completely unaware of the beautiful culture of Shri Dham Vrindavan. Maharaj Ji then used to do the parikrama of Vrindavan daily and visit Shri Banke Bihari. During this time, he met many saints. One day, a great saint advised him that he should visit the Radha Vallabh temple.
Who is Maharaj Premanand’s guru?
Premanand ji approached Pujya Shri Hit Mohit Maral Goswami ji for initiation. Maharaj ji then met his present Sadguru Dev, Pujya Shri Hit Gaurangi Sharan ji Maharaj, one of the most renowned and respected saints of Sahachari Bhaav. Premanand Ji Maharaj served his Guru Sadguru Dev, for more than ten years. With the divine blessings of his Guru Dev and Shri Vrindavan Dham, he soon completely lost himself in Sahachari Bhaav and developed unwavering devotion towards the lotus feet of Shri Radha and became a part of the divine power of Shri Radha Rani.
