Manipulation in L and S , Bisleri was being sold as Bilseri

Bisleri Was Being Sold as Bilseri , Beaware To drink Duplicate Brand . Have you ever thought that the bottled water which you blindly trust as branded, could actually be fake? Due to your little carelessness, you are drinking water from a bottle of fake brand. People selling fake brands under the real name are being fooled. Which is a dangerous game with the common people.

Such a scam has come to light in Kasna Shilpa area of Greater Noida. Here, in two factories running without a license, water was being filled in bottles that looked like ‘Bisleri’ and was being packed in the market under the names of Bilseri and Blesseri. The Food Safety Department has unearthed this complete scam. Two illegal factories were raided and more than 13,000 fake bottles were seized. Both the plants were running without any license and hygiene standards.

Bisleri is a famous brand of water bottles which is recognized all over the country. Its English spelling is BISLERI. A fake brand with the same name was created called BILSERI. In this, the ‘S’ and ‘L’ were changed. Similarly, in Blesseri too, the letters were changed. This was done to make a name that would sound and be read like the original name. Officials say that people often look only at the color and design of the bottle while buying. In such a situation, when the fake bottle looks like Bisleri, it is natural to get cheated.

The Food Safety Department had been receiving complaints for some time that such a plant was operating in some areas of Greater Noida, where bottled water was being sold in the market without any license and regulations. A team of the department raided two different places in Kasana Site-5. After the seizure, samples of all these bottles have been sent to the laboratory for testing. After the investigation report comes, action will be taken against the guilty as per the law.

During the inspection, no valid license, BIS certificate or any hygiene related document was found at either the places. There was neither any facility to check the quality of water nor proper system for filtering. These fake bottles manufactured in the factory were supplied to small shops and markets in Delhi-NCR. They were mainly sold in crowded areas, bus stands, stations and tea shops.

This type of fake water is neither pure nor meets health standards. Drinking such water can cause stomach ailments, infections, vomiting, diarrhea, and in many cases, kidney and liver problems.

How to protect yourself from this scam

  • Read the name of the bottle carefully. Don’t buy just by looking at the packaging or color.
  • Be sure to check the QR code or BIS mark.
  • If you find any suspicious bottle, then complain to the Food Safety Department or the helpline.
