Bollywood Legend Asrani Passes Away At 84 on Diwali Day: The Bollywood industry has been dealt another emotional blow following the recent demise of Pankaj Dheer. Renowned actor and comedian Govardhan Asrani, popularly known as Asrani, passed away on October 20th at 3:30 PM, coinciding with the festival of Diwali. The 84-year-old actor had been unwell for several days and was under medical care at Arogya Nidhi Hospital, where he had been admitted due to fluid accumulation in his lungs. His death was confirmed by his longtime manager, Babu Bhai.

In a poignant twist of fate, a Diwali greeting was shared on Asrani’s official Instagram account just hours before his passing, making the news of his death all the more heartbreaking for fans and colleagues alike. Asrani’s final rites were performed the same evening at the Shanti Nagar crematorium in Santacruz, Mumbai. Born on January 1, 1941, in Jaipur, Asrani carved a niche for himself in Hindi cinema with his impeccable comic timing and versatile performances.

Over a career spanning more than five decades, Asrani featured in over 400 films, delivering memorable performances in classics like “Sholay” (as the hilarious jailer), “Bawarchi,” “Chupke Chupke,” “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” and “Khatta Meetha.” He made his debut in 1967 with “Hare Kaanch Ki Chudiyan.” In his personal life, Asrani was married to actress Manju Bansal, with whom he shared the screen in several films such as “Namak Haram” and “Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar.” The two developed a deep bond while working together and continued their on-screen collaboration post-marriage, becoming one of Bollywood’s most cherished off-screen couples.
