10th-12th Board Exams Answer Key Evaluation In digitally

CBSE’s Big Decision Regarding 10th-12th Board Exams : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a big decision regarding the examination. CBSE will now evaluate the answer sheets of the 10th and 12th board exams digitally. For this, one or more agencies will be selected.

In this decision taken at the CBSE Governing Council meeting, the members have suggested that the evaluation of all subjects of 10th and 12th can be implemented only after the completion of pilot projects in some subjects at various regional offices of the board.

According to the CBSE Governing Body Meeting, earlier too, with a view to reducing the time for evaluation of answer sheets and bringing more accuracy in evaluation, CBSE had implemented digital marking for some subjects of the 10th board examination under some of its regional offices in 2014 and the following year i.e. in 2015, digital marking was implemented for some subjects of the 12th board examination in Delhi.

CBSE has decided that for digital evaluation of answer sheets, agencies will be selected which have good experience in digital evaluation of answer sheets in examinations conducted by school boards, universities or examination bodies regulated by the Central/State Government. Since the verification of answer sheets for class 10 and 12 board examinations is a confidential process, the verification of answer sheets must be done responsibly and without any kind of manipulation.

The estimated cost of the digital evaluation of answer sheets for board exams is reported to be Rs 28 crore. Board officials said that digital evaluation is already underway in many universities and has proven to be beneficial. The biggest advantage of this is that the regional disparity in the evaluation of answer sheets can be eliminated, which will further strengthen the examination process.

CBSE has approved the ‘open-book’ examination for Class 9 from the academic year 2026-27. Teachers have also supported this assessment. This new system has been prepared on the basis of the National Education Policy i.e. NEP 2020. The main objective of this assessment is to test the comprehension and analytical skills of the students instead of testing them. This assessment will cover Mathematics, Science and Social Science.
