Celina Jaitly Claims Abuse and Financial Exploitation in Court Case Against Husband
Celina Jaitly Alleges Domestic Violence Against Husband Peter Haag, Seeks ₹100 Crore Compensation: Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband, Peter Haag, levelling serious allegations of physical, emotional and financial abuse during their 15-year marriage. The case came up for its first hearing before the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Andheri on Friday, December 12.
During the hearing, the court directed both Celina Jaitly and Peter Haag to submit their income affidavits by January 27. The magistrate also instructed Haag to file his response to the domestic violence (DV) petition filed by Jaitly under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act in November.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Celina Jaitly is being represented by the law firm Karanjawala & Company. In her petition, the actress has sought ₹100 crore as compensation for the alleged abuse and ₹10 lakh per month as maintenance.
In her complaint, Jaitly alleged that she endured years of constant physical and emotional abuse, coercive control and verbal harassment. She claimed that her husband systematically deprived her of financial independence, interfered with her professional career and restricted her access to her own earnings, making her financially dependent on him.
The actress further accused Haag of financial misappropriation, alleging that he withdrew money from her bank accounts, used her debit and credit cards without consent, and took control of her important documents, including her passport. Jaitly described Haag as “selfish” and alleged that he showed no empathy towards her or their children.
A major dispute between the couple concerns a Mumbai flat that was transferred to Peter Haag’s name in 2019. Jaitly claimed the transfer occurred when she was mentally unstable and alleged that Haag later rented out the property without her knowledge, earning approximately ₹1.26 crore. She also alleged that Haag sold a property jointly purchased by them in Vienna without informing her.
Jaitly stated that the abuse escalated after Haag relocated her and their children to a small village in Austria. She alleged that he later abandoned her and the children there, forcing her to escape with the help of a neighbour after she discovered documents that she claims were hidden from her.
Meanwhile, Peter Haag has filed for divorce in an Austrian court, blaming Jaitly for the breakdown of the marriage. His legal team has said that the Austrian court has recently granted Jaitly permission to speak to her children by phone for one hour a day. Jaitly, however, has claimed in her Indian DV petition that she was prevented from contacting her children after initiating legal proceedings in India.
In her petition, Jaitly has also made grave allegations, including threats of sexual violence, pressure to engage in unnatural sex, being thrown out of the house shortly after the birth of her twins, harassment during medical distress, and blackmail involving alleged nude photographs.
The case remains under judicial consideration, with further proceedings expected after the submission of income affidavits and Haag’s response to the allegations.
