India Census 2027: Citizens Will Be Able To Self-Enumerate, a new web portal will be launched

Census 2027: First Digital And Caste-Based Count Web Portal Will Be Launched: The government has made a big announcement regarding the next census to be held in India. This will be the first digital census in the country, in which common people will be able to register their information online themselves. For this, the government is going to launch a special web portal. Apart from this, the census work will also be completed through mobile apps.

Till now, for the census in India, government employees used to go door to door and collect information on paper. But now the government is going to make this process completely digital. For the first time, information about people will be collected through a mobile app and an online portal. This will not only speed up the work, but the data will also reach the central server of the government directly in a secure manner.

People will be able to fill in their information.

The government has said that if citizens want, they can themselves enter their census information on the web portal. For this, the census will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be ‘House Listing and Housing Census’, i.e., information about houses and buildings, and the second phase will be ‘Population Enumeration’, i.e., counting of population. In both phases, people will be able to enter their information.

When will the next census be held?

The census will be conducted in two phases in 2026 and 2027. The first phase will start from 1 April 2026, in which houses will be counted. The second phase will start from 1 February 2027, in which the population, caste, and other important information of the people will be collected. For this, a government notification was issued on 16 June 2024. This will be India’s 8th census after independence and 16th census overall.

34 lakh employees will be trained

For such a big task, the government has appointed about 34 lakh people across the country. These employees will be trained at three levels. First, the national trainer, then the master trainer, and finally the field trainer will prepare them. Every village and city will be divided into small parts, and an employee will be responsible for each part. This will ensure that no house or person is left out of the count.

The government has ordered all states and union territories that if they want to make any changes in the boundaries of their districts, tehsils, or police stations, they should do it before 31 December 2025. After that, those boundaries will be considered final in the census. The census can be started only three months after fixing the boundaries. This will prevent any error in the population count.
