Chief engineer caught by vigilance: Throws bundle of 500 rupees out of window, over 2 crores seized . Around Rs 2.1 crore has been seized in a raid conducted by the Vigilance against Odisha Rural Development (RWD) Department Chief Engineer Baikunthanath Sadangi on charges of disproportionate assets. The raids began simultaneously in Bhubaneswar and Angul on Friday morning.
Chief Engineer Caught By Vigilance
According to information received from vigilance sources, about Rs 1 crore has been seized from Sadangi’s PDN Exotica flat in Bhubaneswar. In addition, another Rs 1.1 crore has been recovered from his residence in Karadgarhia, Angul district. The amount of money seized has been counted by machine. The total amount of money seized is estimated to be about Rs 2.1 crore.

A dramatic incident took place during the raid. Seeing the vigilance officials, Sarangi threw a bundle of Rs 500 notes out of the window of his flat in Bhubaneswar. However, the vigilance team recovered the money.
The operation, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Anushka Safi of Dhenkanal Vigilance Department, is also continuing in Lekeipassi, Matiyasahi and Shikshakapada areas of Angul district. Officers from Angul, Dhenkanal and Cuttack are participating in the operation.
