Chief Minister Kanya Vivaah Yojana
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed to include widowed women in the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivaah Yojana’ (MMKVY) in a high-level meeting held on Wednesday. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance in the marriage of daughters of economically weak, poor and helpless families.
Chief Minister Majhi said that marriage traditions in Odisha have become very expensive now, due to which many times poor families are not able to marry their daughters. He said, a daughter is not a burden, but a blessing. We should give them respect and empowerment to make their dreams come true.
The government will organize mass marriages under this scheme, the entire expense of which will be borne by the state government. Along with this, wedding gifts will also be given to the newly married couples. The Chief Minister has directed the concerned departments to complete the process of the scheme quickly and implement it soon.
