China Builds World’s Tallest AI-Powered Dam 

China is known for its technology and science. Chinese scientists often create affordable and durable products. But now they have achieved something that has astonished everyone. China has built an entire dam using AI and digital twin technology.

This dam, built in China’s Xinjiang region, is the world’s first to be built using AI and digital twin technology. The Dashxia Dam began storing water on Saturday. Located in the middle and lower reaches of the Kumarak River in Xinjiang’s Aksu Province.

World’s First AI-Built Dam
China has completed the construction of the Dashxia Dam in Xinjiang using AI, digital twin, and blockchain technologies—a world first. What sets it apart is that the entire project was managed and operated without human intervention, relying entirely on unmanned systems.

    Record-Breaking Structure
    At 247 meters (810 feet) tall, the Dashxia Dam is now the tallest concrete-face rockfill dam in the world—equivalent in height to an 80-story building. This type of dam, made from compacted rock with a concrete face, is known for its durability, cost-effectiveness, and earthquake resilience.

    Advanced Technologies at the Core
    The project was led by China Energy Engineering Corporation and integrated digital twin simulations, AI decision-making, and blockchain to handle complex geological and seismic conditions—offering a blueprint for future infrastructure projects worldwide.

    Massive Water Storage and Irrigation Support
    Once fully operational in 2026, the Dashxia Dam will have a storage capacity of 1.17 billion cubic meters. It is designed to irrigate over 533,000 hectares of agricultural land in the Aksu and Tarim River Basins, improving water supply in the drought-prone region.

    Clean Energy Generation
    The dam will also have a hydropower generation capacity of 750,000 kilowatts, expected to produce 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. That’s enough to power around 180,000 American homes each year, significantly contributing to China’s renewable energy goals.

    Enhanced Flood Control
    In addition to power and irrigation, the Dashxia Dam is expected to reduce the frequency and severity of flooding in the region, offering both environmental and economic protection to surrounding communities.

      This project marks a major milestone in smart infrastructure, demonstrating how AI and automation can redefine the future of civil engineering.
