The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a big gift for more than 28 lakh employees and pensioners of the state before Diwali. It was decided in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that the dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) of government employees and pensioners of the state will be increased by 4%. Which has increased from 55 percent to 58 percent. This increase will be implemented from July 1, 2025. Its benefits will be available in the form of cash payment from October 2025. Chief Minister Yogi said that this will provide security to lakhs of state employees and pensioners. As a result of this decision, the state government will have to bear an additional expenditure of Rs 1,960 crore by March 2026.

The government’s decision will result in an additional cash expenditure of Rs 795 crore in November 2025. Of which Rs 185 crore is included in the GPF deposits of OPS employees. The government will bear an additional expenditure of over Rs 550 crore for payment of arrears from July to September 2025. From December 2025, the state government will bear an additional expenditure of Rs 245 crore per month. Chief Minister Yogi has directed the officials to implement this process smoothly. This decision will not only provide financial security to the employees and pensioners, but will also strengthen the people-oriented policies of the Yogi government. This Diwali gift has brought joy to the employees of the state.
