Delcy Rodriguez Officially Sworn in as Interim President of Venezuela

Delcy Rodriguez Sworn in as Venezuela’s Interim President Following Maduro’s Arrest: Following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by US authorities, Delcy Rodriguez has been sworn in as the interim President of Venezuela. The ceremony took place in the Venezuelan Parliament building, where Rodriguez was administered the oath of office by her brother, National Assembly leader Jorge Rodriguez. During the ceremony, she expressed her concern for the Venezuelan people, saying, “I come with sorrow for the suffering of the Venezuelan people after the illegitimate military aggression against our homeland. I come with sorrow for the kidnapping of two heroes.”

Delcy Rodriguez, born in Caracas on May 18, 1969, comes from a politically prominent family. Her father, Jorge Antonio Rodriguez, was a leading leftist and founder of the Marxist party Liga Socialista in the 1970s. Over the years, Delcy has held key positions in the Venezuelan government, including Foreign Minister, Communications Minister, President of the Constituent Assembly, and Vice President. Nicolás Maduro has repeatedly praised her leadership and political strength, often referring to her as a “Lioness” for her fearless approach.

Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Rodriguez following the military action in Venezuela. In a recent interview with The Atlantic, Trump stated that the interim president could face serious consequences if she does not take the right course of action. This warning represents a significant shift from Trump’s earlier statements on Venezuela.

Delcy Rodriguez’s appointment comes at a highly sensitive moment in Venezuelan politics, with international attention focused on the country’s leadership and the ongoing tensions following Maduro’s arrest. Analysts suggest that her leadership will be closely scrutinized both domestically and globally as Venezuela navigates this turbulent period.
