Facebook and Instagram users in the UK are now being offered an ad-free version option. Meta has announced that those who want to get rid of ads while scrolling on the social media can get the benefit for around Rs 400 per month.
The company was accused of using users’ personal data to show personalized ads. In the midst of the allegations, Meta has launched a subscription model. Under this plan, web users will have to pay 2.99 euros per month and mobile users will have to pay 3.99 euros per month. If users have linked their Facebook and Instagram accounts, they will only have to take out one subscription. Meta said that UK residents can now view or subscribe to an ad-free Facebook and Instagram. The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) welcomed the move.
UK Facebook and Instagram users can now scroll through ads for free or enjoy ad-free Reels and videos for a few euros per month. While the change offers new conveniences to users, it will also protect data privacy in different parts of the world.
