Delhi Fire; Flames Break Out Near Rashtrapati Bhavan: Fire Under Control
New Delhi witnessed two separate fire incidents on Tuesday, raising concerns over fire safety during the festive season. The first fire broke out near Gate No. 31 of Rashtrapati Bhavan around 1:51 p.m., causing panic in the high-security area. According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), household items on the ground floor of a two-story building caught fire. Five fire engines were immediately dispatched, and the blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes, with no injuries reported.
Later that night, another fire broke out in the Mohan Garden area of West Delhi. A four-story residential building caught fire around 9:49 p.m. on Diwali night. Fortunately, seven people, including women and children from three families, were safely rescued. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh stated that four individuals were rescued by local police and residents using ropes, while the remaining three were evacuated by fire department personnel.
The timely and coordinated efforts by the fire department, police, and local residents in both incidents prevented major tragedies. While no casualties were reported in either case, officials have reiterated the importance of fire safety precautions, especially during festive times when the risk of such incidents increases.
