Former Mizoram Governor Swaraj Kaushal Passes Away: Former Mizoram Governor and noted lawyer Swaraj Kaushal passed away after he complained of chest pain and was rushed to AIIMS by his daughter, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, and other family members. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead, leaving his family, colleagues, and well-wishers in deep grief.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed profound condolences on Kaushal’s demise, remembering him as an exceptional legal mind and a compassionate public figure. “I am saddened by the passing away of Shri Swaraj Kaushal ji. He distinguished himself as a lawyer and as someone who believed in using the legal profession to improve the lives of the underprivileged,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X. Modi also recalled Kaushal’s tenure as India’s youngest Governor, noting his impactful work in Mizoram and his remarkable insight as a parliamentarian. He extended condolences to Bansuri Swaraj and the bereaved family.
Kaushal’s last rites were held at the Lodhi Road crematorium in Delhi. Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, and several senior BJP and RSS leaders were present to pay their final respects. Following Sanatan traditions, Bansuri Swaraj lit the funeral pyre before sunset.
In a heartfelt message on X, Bansuri Swaraj described her father as the guiding light of her life. She wrote that his “affection, discipline, simplicity, patriotism, and boundless patience” shaped her deeply. Expressing her grief, she said, “My heart is filled with deep pain. Yet, I have faith that now, in the presence of the Almighty, you have been reunited with your mother and have found eternal peace. Being your daughter is the greatest honor of my life.”
Swaraj Kaushal, a respected legal luminary and public servant, leaves behind a legacy of dedication, integrity, and service to the nation.
