2nd Test: Gill Slams Hard-Fought Second Hundred As Test Captain
Gill’s Century Helps India Post 310/5 In Second Test : Team India is in a strong position on the first day of the second Test against England. India has lost 5 wickets at the end of the first day of the Birmingham Test. Indian cricket team captain Shubman Gill has scored a century. Shubman Gill is unbeaten on 114 runs and Ravindra Jadeja is unbeaten on 41 runs. Star batsman Yashaswi Jaiswal is 87 runs short of a century for India. KL Rahul and Nitish Kumar Reddy disappointed on the first day of the second Test. Rahul returned to the pavilion after scoring just 2 runs and Nitish Kumar Reddy returned to the pavilion after scoring 1 run. Similarly, Karun Nair scored 31 runs and Rishabh Pant scored 25 runs.
Now Gill and Jadeja are on the field. India is expecting a big score from these two players. So it is said that the team’s score on the second day can be 400 par. In the first test, Gill’s bat saw a hundred, while in the second test, he has also seen a hundred.
Gill’s Century Record – Gill is also the third Indian captain with hundreds in consecutive Tests against England, after Azharuddin (Lord’s and Old Trafford in 1990) and Vijay Hazare (Delhi and Brabourne in 1951/52). After Yashasvi Jaiswal hit an enterprising 87, Gill and Ravindra Jadeja, who ended the day on 41 not out, shared an unbroken 99-run stand for the sixth wicket and helped India recover well from 211/5.
