Chief Minister Ravi Naik No More
Goa’s Agriculture Minister and former Chief Minister Ravi Nayak passed away due to a heart attack. He died at the age of 79 due to a heart attack at his residence. He was admitted to a private hospital. His family members informed that he passed away at 1 am.
He is survived by his wife, two children, a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. His last rites will be performed today at 3 pm. His mortal remains have been kept in a state of mourning at his residence in Ponda. Thousands of people have gathered here to pay their respects.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences on his death. Modi wrote in an X, “I am saddened by the demise of Shri Ravi Nayakji, a minister in the Goa government. He was an experienced administrator and a dedicated public servant. He enriched the development path of Goa. My condolences go out to his family and supporters in this hour of grief. Om Shanti.”
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed profound grief over the demise, calling Naik “a stalwart of Goan politics.” “Deeply saddened by the demise of our senior leader and Cabinet Minister Ravi Naik Ji. His decades of dedicated service as Chief Minister and Minister across key portfolios have left an indelible mark on the state’s governance and people,” Sawant said in a statement.
